My New Blog

It’s been a strange few years for me. There has been a lot of change, transition, and loss, a few health scares, and — most importantly for my purposes here — worldviews have emerged, coallesced, and collapsed in spectacular fashion. Emerging from all this is both exciting and scary, as newness often is. I’ve started this blog as a place for me to sort through my thoughts in a vaguely public forum. I certainly am not out for huge numbers of hits or readers and expect much (if not all) of what I write here to go largely unread. The point isn’t that I narcissistically think I have answers or insight that I want ‘out there’, but simply  that writing helps me sort through what I think, and writing for an audience (even a hypothetical one) keeps me honest and pushes me to sort things more clearly than I might otherwise.

So, if you’re reading this, here’s what you can expect: a lot of opinions, open questions, and half-formed thoughts on philosophy, worldview, politics, faith, culture, aesthetics, and the arts — and the interaction of all these.

I’ll ask for forgiveness in advance of errors in logic, gaps in knowledge, and the odd ungracious rant. The thoughts here are not intended to be anyone’s final word.

Cheers, and thanks for stopping by.

Matt

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. They are well written, even if you feel some are half-formed, and they spring from a vast background knowledge and honest real life experiences. I look forward to being able to eavesdrop on some of your inner dialogue.
